Way back when I was a dirt-head teen-angster, I had a cassette tape of a band that sang “Happy, happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween…” do any of you remember the band or the song?

No matter, I’ve moved on to chants and spiritual ballads.

There will be a maximum number of participants as space is limited. This is a formal ritual and the rite goes through midnight. I need committed RSVPs no later than October 25^th. 

 

 

As an introduction or reminder (in case you need either):

I’d like to extend an Open Circle welcome to all of you who may be just finding this mailer, the website and/or the circles. I know open circles are hard to come by and there’s often a strange discomfort in entering a new group (perhaps especially a Pagan group!). If you are in the “new crowd,” please know that I make every effort to accommodate the diverse needs of the circle and everyone is always welcome. You need not worry about disrupting an established rhythm. It is an ever-open, dynamic, changing and flowing circle and your presence is a blessing!

If you are in the “know crowd,” thank you for your on-going participation and co-creation of the circle! A circle is only as warm as the participants make it and all of you are a tremendous blessing to each other! Thank you for maintaining the ongoing circle, for building community and for continuing to welcome the ever-changing needs of the circle!

I guess I shouldn’t have bothered sending out that initial September mailer since I’ve just gone ahead and changed just about EVERYTHING and keep having to send out these annoying updates with new and improved (or different anyway) information.

So, keeping with my September theme of totally disregarding my own schedule, here are yet more changes for you and while I’m at it, I’ll just give you the synopsis of events for the rest of the month so you don’t have to scan back through four e-mails worth of amendments. Aren’t I nice?

This Thursday, September 21st – New Moon ritual – contact me for more info. Pre-requisites must be met for attendance.

This Friday, September 22nd – Mabon Ritual and potluck – Facilitated by the Treehenge Seed Group – 5:30 PM – Held in Treehenge (just east of Lee Martinez Park), or in event of rain, which is highly likely,we’ll be in the shelter at Lee Martinez Park (west of the main parking lot). Please dress warmly and be prepared to be in the chill if not in the wet. Ritual wear is encouraged. Bring your own dishes. – RSVP to me.

Next Tuesday, September 26th – Women’s Dance of Universal Peace at St. Barnabas Church in Denver (southeast corner of 13th and Vine) – 7 PM – $6 suggested donation

Next Wednesday, September 27th – Dance of Universal Peace in Denver – it’s the last dance at the Temple Events Center. A new location for the weekly Denver dance is still pending – 7:30 PM – $8 at the door

Next Friday, September 29th – Charge of the Goddess music and dance cycle at the Mennonite Church in Boulder (on Table Mesa one block east of Broadway) – of course, this is a last minute plan… Susan and I will be facilitating the Friday night Boulder dance with the Charge of the Goddess. Please come and help us share this evening of prayer – 7:15 PM – $8 at the door

Next Saturday, September 30th – CHANT!!! – I hope y’all can come sing Saturday instead of Friday. And this chant will be held at 5000 Boardwalk #13 – Sorry for the inconvenience, disappointment, frustration, and/or uncontrolled rage this change may induce – 7 PM – by donation

And you are welcome to plan a week into October, if it suits you – Tuesday, October 3rd is a morning Mama Sing at Greyrock and an evening Dance of Universal Peace at River Rock.

Dance of Universal Peace for Alice Dornseif – Tuesday, September 5^th – 7:15 PM – River Rock Common House – This dance is an honoring and benefit dance celebrating Marylea’s mom, Alice Dornseif, who left her body this March. On August 28^th she would have turned 82. Marylea and William will match the donations from this evening’s DUP and send the equal amount to a charitable organization in Alice’s honor. Please come and help Marylea celebrate her mom’s life – by donation 

 

Dance of Universal Peace NOT at Sunrise – Tuesday, September 12^th – 7:15 PM – River Rock Common House – I’m sorry to say, I forgot that Sunrise Ranch is not available this month so, Tanja (at River Rock) has arranged, once again, for us to dance in the common house (Thank you, Tanja!) – $7 suggested donation

By golly, this month is looking so full! But the first few items are still August, which makes September seem a little less terrifying.

And the last three inches of text are my usual foolishness.

Events with Leilah between August 23^rd and August 27^th:

Leilah Be, Sufi teacher and DUP leader, will be attending and contributing to the regular dance programs with Timothy Dobson this Wednesday evening in Denver (Temple Events Center, 7:15 PM, $8 at the door) and this Friday evening in Boulder (I think it’s the Mennonite Church(?) one block east of Broadway and Lehigh, same time and price).

She is offering a full day workshop 9 AM to 4 PM in Boulder on Saturday ($75, contact Gwin Samia to register 303-847-1844, or aloharng@aol.com) as well as presenting at Spirit Keepers Sunday morning (Senior Center at 9^th and Arapahoe in Boulder, 10 AM)

Her Zikr will be at the Starhouse Sunday evening (just west of Boulder up Sunshine Canyon, $10).

I just can’t sing Leilah’s praises sweetly or loudly or enthusiastically enough. Please come spend some time with her at any/all of these events.

Hi All!

I’m here to disrupt your summer with some new information and clarifications about Spiritual Mentoring and Deepening Circle. If you have no interest in either of these things, good-bye!

Spiritual Mentoring –

If you are interested in learning more about Spiritual Mentoring (either in a group or in a one-on-one context), please come to a meeting with me and Kiri to discuss this practice. After an introductory conversation, those who are interested in a group can set up details for getting it started.

Side note: I have heard some interest from folks in the Denver area. If y’all are serious, we can plan a meeting and consider starting a group in Denver. Please let me know what you want.

Another side note: if the below listed time for a meeting doesn’t work for you but you do want to learn more about Spiritual Mentoring, we can plan an alternate meeting time for the following Monday. Let me know what you need.

Deepening Circle –

In the last e-mail, I introduced my intention to start a new moon ritual circle. I have heard from many of you who are interested and I would like to hold the first new moon circle this Monday July 24th.

If you have already submitted your RSVP, please do so again (I lost them, and I’ll send the details about time and place when you contact me!).

As clarification, here’s how I’m structuring this:

If you’re interested in a Deepening Circle, please call or e-mail me to let me know.

I will forward you a digital copy of my written description, requirements and intentions.

If you’re still interested and can agree with that document, you are welcome to RSVP for ritual.

It will be a continuously open circle meaning that even if you don’t attend the first ritual, you are welcome to look into it and jump on board later. Each ritual will be open to 10 people only (first come and all that).

As a heads up: there is a pre-requisite of attendance at four full moon circles.

Side note (I love side notes, don’t you?): if you contacted me for information and I dropped the ball, please remind me so I can follow through. My organizational skills have been seriously lacking of late!

Thank you all for putting up with my scatter-brained-ness! The rest of the month’s activities are still good to go (Women’s DUP in Denver on the 25th, Chant on the 28th, River Rock DUP on the 1st and Lammas on the 2nd). Several of you have offered to help with Lammas and I will be in touch with you very soon about that.

Here’s another weird idea for you: I would like to offer a “Deepening Circle,” that is to say, a co-ed, new moon ritual circle with the intention of exploring more contemplative/deeper ritual workings. I’ve been envisioning an open circle structure (meaning everyone is welcome) but with solid pre-requisites (to ensure everyone’s alignment and cooperation with the circle’s intentions). I’ve been writing up some info for interested folks. To learn more, please contact me. If there is sufficient interest for this experiment (and it truly is an experiment), we may gather for the first time Monday, July 24^th (the new moon) – time and place TBA

My advice: go to bed at midnight, sleep ‘til noon, take advantage of afternoon siesta, and harbor no qualms about falling asleep in business meetings. Let the early bird have its worm. Hey, I heard (from my brother) that if you swallow two mouthfuls of chlorinated pool water, a urine analysis drug test will come out clean. Is that true?

You know those silly songs we all learn in elementary school (primary school, if you prefer) such as “Ring Around the Rosy” and “Miss Mary Mack” and “Cinderella Dressed in Yella” and the spin off songs like “This Land is my Land; This Land Ain’t Your Land” and “Jingle Bells Batman Smells” etc… Isn’t it amazing that these songs have been around forever and they maintain a lively existence on down through countless generations of school children who all think they are the first ones to sing them? Color me impressed!
