Just hanging out, spending an evening sitting and singing. Chant circles are usually scheduled once a month. See the Schedule of Events for details.
The chants tend to be a sprinkling of music from several faith traditions. Some rounds, some counter-melodies and harmonies. Often, I prepare a list of chants before the evening begins, but I’m always open to including requests from participants. The gatherings are informal. If chants include foreign languages, I will offer translations and teach pronunciation as needed.
I bring guitars and a drum and everyone is welcome to bring other instruments or just pick up rattling noisy toys from the circle. It is wonderful when participants want to teach/share chants they know as well.
Feel free to download and peruse this document of chants I’ve compiled over the years (an ongoing work in progress).
