perfunctory
Darlings,
I regret to inform you that I have not a shred, ounce or iota of humor in my possession at the moment. Please forgive my “just the facts, ma’am” e-mail for October. Unwilling to believe God has forsaken our species… I nurture a sunshiny ray of hope that my wit will return with the birth of Jesus in December… maybe even before then.

For humorless evenings at home, read National Geographic, eat dill pickles straight from the jar (fondue forks are effective utensils for this undertaking), I never ever ever recommend drinking beer because it’s gross but green tea is probably a good humorless beverage choice. Listen to Republican and/or Evangelical Christian radio…
I want you to know, I just spent 10 minutes googling “conservative talk radio” in the Fort Collins area and couldn’t come up with a damn thing. Just listen to NPR.
QUESTION: Does “Evangelical Free Church” mean that there is NO evangelizing, or that they evangelize freely? Someone please explain.
Love and serious faced blessings,
Sara

Hey, I’ve heard that certain times of morning or afternoon, the angle of the Sun in relation to your position on earth no longer poses a sunburn threat.
Does anyone know the angle? It seems that the further we get into autumn, the more we should be able to just hang out in the blazing sunlight without concern.
Someone please verify this for me so I can tell my skin to stop having this pink-ified tantrum about too much sun-exposure.
It’s no fun.
Thanks!
Love,
Sara

Dear Pagan, Sufi, or Spiritually Eclectic Hooligans,
Welcome to yet another deliriously magnificent mailer, published by your own personal lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Er… no wait a minute… it’s just me, Sara, trying to keep y’all informed and keep the circles open for your and my personal enjoyment.
Sorry, no messiah here. Just your supremely humble local networker. Have you noticed how when someone says “I’m so humble…” it usually means they’re not? I’ve noticed that too.
I have a question:
Can someone please explain to me why chive flowers smell like garlic?
And is “chive” even a word? Is “chives” a singular noun?
I bet Jesus would know.
Or I bet Jesus could ask Adam and Eve to clarify. Did Adam and Eve make it into heaven even though they had to invent clothes because of their indiscretion?
Either way, I’m sure they had chive/s and garlic growing in their garden.
Please wear all your appropriate public apparel when you attend the following events with me (fig leaves will not suffice, unless you weave a sturdy fiber out of the shredded leaves, but I bet it’s itchy and not worth the effort)…

Did you know that there are little plug-in pheromone diffusers that can make horribly bitchy cats friendly and lovable? It’s true. I didn’t believe it but…
(this next line is sung at the top of one’s lungs)
NOW I’M A BELIEVER!!! Without a trace of doubt in my mind!
Hey hey we’re the Monkees! And people say we monkey around!
Who writes this stuff?
I’m wondering if there are happy pheromone diffusers for bad drivers, PMS-ing women, NRA members (Hey if you go here and register, can I have your free hat? https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/gift.asp), conspiracy theorists, or Mitt Romney. Incidentally, Mitt Romney’s website has a “shopping” section so you can buy a hat exactly like the NRA one, but it’s not free. I think Mitt could afford to give me a free hat, don’t you?
Hey!
Did you know that Barack Obama, the super-studly, bad-ass, smarty-pants, pro-women, pro-gay-rights, pro-intelligence is speaking at CSU this afternoon?
I’m currently crying in my coffee because I have to leave for the Denver Women’s Dance before he starts talking. Otherwise I would have been there blowing him kisses. Hey! I said “KISSES!”
I better finish this e-mail before I get in trouble.
Love and Happiness to every blessed one of you, whichever way you vote come November!

ginger root
Dear Ones,
Striving to overcome Summer lethargy, event-cancellation despondency, and general psychological muck?
Try these fool-proof tricks (not sure what “fool-proof” means… but I think it’s something good):
1. Watch chickens. The live kind with all their feathers intact. Damn funny creatures, I’m telling you! (NOTE: the fried up kind or rotisserie style will NOT lift your mood).
2. Sip lemonade with a healthy dose of gin. Healthy, in this case, means HUGE. Gin is one of those happy liquors, right? (NOTE: if you are under the age of 21 or don’t do alcohol for religious reasons, please disregard this advice. I personally prefer root beer anyway).
3. Tell your boss, wife, children or warden that you are going to the grocery store…but INSTEAD… go see this movie: http://focusfeatures.com/moonrise_kingdom. No joke. I’ve seen it three times. I LOVE IT!
4. Come live with me. My family is great fun. Tim is adorable, Jodie is awesome, Matara is hilarious, Teva is charming. I’m kind of a pain-in-the-buttooschk… but there’s gotta be one in every family. It’ll be kind of crowded, but way more enjoyable than a sardine can. (This is not a homeless shelter kind of invitation, more like a funny farm).
So, I’m actually serious about getting the Pagan shenanigans up and going again. But I need to know that you want them. I’ve listed New Moon and Full Moon gatherings this month. If you don’t RSVP, they won’t happen. Same with the Dance Leader Training program.

Sunday, July 29th – Chant – 7 PM – 135 Circle Drive, F.C. – $7 suggested donation
Wednesday August 1st – Lammas/Lughnasadh ritual, potluck and drum circle – Treehenge – RSVP to me – family friendly – bring food/drink to share, non-disposable dishes, outdoor seating, bug spray, drums, your children… 5:30 PM (ritual first… food second) – $10/adult suggested donation
Sunday, August 5th – Chant – 7 PM – 135 Circle Drive – $7 suggested donation
Tuesday, August 7th – Mama Sing – 10 AM – Avogadro’s (625 S Mason, F.C.) – $7 suggested donation
Tuesday, August 7th – Dance at Sunrise Ranch – 7 PM – 100 Sunrise Ranch Rd, Loveland – $5 to $10 suggested

WOMEN’S RETREAT – September 14 to 17 – Camp Santa Maria – $167 covers meals and lodging (donation for facilitators is a happy option) – Lots of lovely lady leaders from along the front range – come join us for our third annual celebration of women! REGISTRATION is OPEN – More info or to pay on-line: http://trigoddess.org/special-events/
Don’t bake bread, cookies, cake, apples, lasagna or quiche when it’s this hot. No pastry is worth the extra heat in the house.
Cold fruit and veggie concoctions truly can sustain you through the summer… well… those plus coffee.
Just take all those Happy Heart Farm CSA veggies and put them in the blender. Green smoothies, HURRAY!
Call or e-mail me to RSVP for events and/or to get a suggested list of ingredients for delicious, nutritious and disturbingly colored blended food!

Happy St. Augustine Day, August 28th! We wouldn’t have Catholicism without him.
Cheers!

P.S. Since the word “buttooschk” isn’t in the dictionary, I feel empowered to spell it however I want.

I’m a little late getting this to you because I can’t come up with anything funny…
Let’s see…
Fire is raging… that’s not funny.
It’s after midnight and I’m sleepy… that’s not funny.

It’s so hot, all the chocolate is melting and no one (including me) wants to eat HOT chocolate under these conditions… not funny.

…and, beloved ones, I know I make jokes every year about firecrackers and fireworks and fireflies… but this year I will make no jokes.
Ladies and gentlemen, fire is not funny.
Harold and Maude… now that’s funny.
Go see Harold and Maude… again.
I know there are fireworks in there, but they are being very safely handled in the distance and Harold blows bubbles instead of smoking a cigarette… which is funny and smart!
He also uses a blowtorch, which, boys and girls, you should definitely NOT do… even if you are morbidifying a Porsche.
He also lights himself on fire… not really… but that kind of fire actually is funny. My friends, don’t do that either… there were some serious special effects way back then and he did not really do that. Don’t try it. Like I said… fire is not funny.
There is also a banjo. That’s kinda funny. Well, I think it’s funny.
Soothing watery blessings,
Sara

I am happy to say, we’ll be dancing momentarily at Art and Science in Fort Collins. 7:30 PM 346 E Mountain Ave. The air is clear and we’ll concentrate the evening on “Soothing Waters.”
I am sad to say, Meadowfest is cancelled. Jack’s Gulch is closed due to fire. If you have sent in registration, your money will be refunded in full. Our deep apologies on behalf of the Gods of Fire and their disrespect for our human plans.
I am happy to say, I will schedule some alternate community activities for the Meadowfest time-frame in Fort Collins:

Notice my address isn’t here. You have to RSVP!!!
SATURDAY the 23rd – SUPER CHANT! – 135 Circle Drive in Fort Collins (thank you Halima and Lyle!) – 6 PM POTLUCK (bring vegetarian food/drink to share) – 7 PM to midnight SINGING, SINGING, SINGING… bring all your vocal chords…
The rest of the June mailer is still up and running.
See you soon.
Love and Syrupy Goodness!

Dear Community,
The summer flurry is starting early. Are you ready? Sunscreen? Flip-flops? REALLY BIG hats? I learned early on (like when I was 22) that if you’re in the sunshine smiling a lot, your wrinkles turn white! Awesome!

EVERY THURSDAY – Dance of Universal Peace – 7:30 PM – 346 E Mountain, Ft Collins – $10 suggested donation

Tuesday, May 22nd – Women’s Dance in Denver – 7 PM – St Barnabas Church 1280 Vine St – $8 suggested donation
Tuesday, May 22nd – My Mama’s Birthday! – Call her and tell her you love her! If you need her number, call me.
This week I learned a trick. Pick out your clothes and THEN go get a pedicure so you can choose nail polish that matches your outfit. You’ve got to accessorize, dontcha know.
Also… my super smart children informed me that our ears are in alignment with our nipples. I actually don’t believe this to be true… but that’s what teenagers believe… so… I guess I’m dumb.
Plus… I learned at least… oh… maybe… 8 new songs from Sharon and Mary Ellen (the chant retreat co-facilitators). It’s gonna be SO awesome!
And… moreover… I learned that while Darth Vader is on the Death Star supposedly contemplating evil and destruction, he’s actually just watching baseball. Who knew? I bet Yoda’s doing the same. You think he’s meditating on that swampy log, but really he’s fixated on the boob-tube.
RSVP for women’s shindigs by calling or e-mailing me. You could try calling or e-mailing each other… but things get convoluted, confused and misconstrued so easily.
If you need suggestions for how to celebrate Beltane (a.k.a. May Day):
1. grow flowers
2. braid ribbons into your hair (or beard, if you’re lucky enough to have one)
3. take your super-sexy lover out into the garden and…. you know…
Happy Beltane!
